Frequently asked questions

Therapy can feel like a step into the unknown — especially if it's your first time, or you're not sure it's “for you”. This page answers the questions men ask us most often, about how Men's Therapy Hub works, how to find the right therapist, and what to expect once you reach out.

Getting started

We're a directory and resource hub built specifically for men. Every therapist listed is a verified man, registered with a recognised professional body. Alongside the directory we publish honest, plain-English guides and a podcast on men's mental health.
The directory is built around male clients and male therapists, because men are significantly under-represented on both sides of the room. That said, anyone is welcome to read our resources or get in touch — there's no gate on who can use the site.
No. You can browse profiles and contact any therapist directly — no GP referral, no waiting list, no middle step. Most therapists offer a free or low-cost intro call so you can see how it feels before committing.
It's free for anyone looking for a therapist. You only pay your therapist directly for sessions — we don't take a commission and we don't sit between you and them.

Finding & choosing a therapist

Use the Find a therapist page to filter by what you're working on, how you want to meet, location, language and price. Read a couple of profiles that feel right, and reach out — the fit between you and your therapist matters more than any label.
That's completely normal — and you don't need it figured out before you start. You can use our Get Matched tool to answer a few quick questions, or simply book an intro call and talk it through. Working out what's going on is part of the work.
Yes. Many therapists offer secure video or phone sessions, so you can get support wherever you are. You can filter for online, in-person, or a mix on the directory.
Your message goes directly to the therapist. They'll usually reply to arrange a short intro conversation — a chance for both of you to see whether it's a good fit before booking a first full session. There's no pressure to commit.

Our therapists

Yes. Every therapist is registered with a body accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), or regulated by a statutory body such as the HCPC. That means they're properly trained, bound by a code of ethics, and committed to ongoing supervision and development.
Before a listing goes live, we check each therapist's professional registration and qualifications. We review every profile rather than letting anyone list automatically — so the directory stays trustworthy instead of becoming another crowded database.
There's no rule that a man has to see a male therapist, and many men work brilliantly with female therapists. But for some men, having a man in the room makes the first few sessions easier and the deeper work possible. Representation matters — and male therapists are under-represented. We exist to make them easier to find.

Privacy & your account

Yes. We're privacy-led by default: no public reviews, no rankings, and no resale of your data. Anything you save while browsing is just for you.
When you message a therapist, your details go to that therapist so they can reply. We don't sell or pass your data to advertisers or other third parties.
Tap the heart on any therapist profile, podcast episode or resource to keep it in your favourites — handy when you're comparing a few before reaching out.
